Title Races Hotting Up

With 7 weeks of the season gone, each division is starting to take shape.

In the John Cooper Premier Division it was Crofton Albion leading the way with 4 wins from 4, but having been proven to have fielded an ineligible player, they are pipped to the top by Rotherhithe. The Charcoal and Old Roan are also in close pursuit. AFC Bethwin, AFC Oldsmiths and OLAHM have had mixed results so far and it looks like a struggle at the bottom end for Farnborough OBG Reserves, Kent United Reserves and London Legends.

In the Jim Hampson Division One, it is Blackheath leading the way, after 5 wins from 5 games. The chasing pack is led by LP Athletic, with last season's 3rd placed side, Atletico Londres, once again there. Standard Ballers and Blackheath Village are also in the mix. Four of the top five were in Division Two last year and have carried on their strong form into this season. Elsewhere, Eltham Eagles are starting to hit form, FC Thamesmead are inconsistent, GroundHoppers are struggling for players, while Stansfeld A and Beckenham are yet to get themselves going.

In the Richard Ayling Division Two, Northumberland Heath look a class apart, scoring 36 goals on their way to five straight wins. The battle for second place looks intriguing, with Beckenham Town Juniors and Beckenham United in the mix. Sporting Club Thamesmead Development and Falconwood U23s have recovered from poor starts to push up the table. Equinoccial Reserves, Old Pepys and Metrogas Reserves are proving inconsistent. New Park and Latin Elite have struggled.

In Division Three, we have all new teams and they are finding their feet in different ways. Athenlay, London Legends Reserves and Ellis Athletic remain unbeaten. Hayden Youth lead the table and Royal Greenwich Borough have 9 points from 6 games. Kerria are showing some form and Parkwood Rangers 2nds, Thamesmead FC, Petts Wood all have one win. Kent United 3rds were awarded 3 points after RGB fielded an unregistered player against them.

Eltham Eagles win the Elizabeth Jaques Cup with a clinical display

Eltham Eagles finally won the Elizabeth Jaques Cup after being runners-up the previous season. They punished a wasteful Blackheath side with some clinical finishing to take home the silverware. The pick of the goals was a fine solo effort by youngster Alan Muler, off the bench to beat his man and curl in a beauty.

Sporting Club Beckenham secure first silverware of the season

Sporting Club Beckenham beat Farnborough OBG Reserves to win the Ron Pope Cup Final. A deserved win was sealed through some excellent goals, the pick of the bunch a stunning free-kick from Chris McGinty. Thanks to all those who attended the final to support their teams. All profits from the finals will go to South-East London Mind and Sands charities.

September throws up some fantastic football

John Cooper Premier Division

A fantastic start to the season for Sporting Club Beckenham, who have carried on where they left off last season, with four wins from four games. Old Roan are hot on their tails, with three wins out of three. AFC Bethwin are also unbeaten, with two wins and a draw. The rest of the division looks competitive, except Latin Elite, who look a little out of their depth so far.

Jim Hampson Division One

Beckenham have made a strong start to lead the table, with two wins, a draw and a defeat, ahead on goal difference from Bexley 'A,' champions of Division Two last season. Atletico Londres are hot on their heels, with two wins from three. In a competitive division, only three sides remain unbeaten.

Richard Ayling Division Two

It is Langley Park Athletic leading the way in September, with two wins and two draws. Blackheath Village and Teviot Rangers are next up, with 7 points from four games. Another competitive division sees only 3 sides unbeaten so far.

Agenda win title at a canter!

Agenda are crowned John Cooper Premier Division champions, after a sensational season, where they also clinched the Ron Pope Cup. They were unbeaten until the title was claimed and finish the season with an impressive double. A brilliant season and we look forward to seeing them fly in the Kent County League next season.

Runners-up spot went to West Wickham Albion, who were in the title fight for much of the season. They have improved season on season and will also hope to gain promotion to the Kent County League. Good luck to both sides next season.

Sporting Club Beckenham secure title after dominant season

Sporting Club Beckenham managed to finish the season unbeaten, as they won the Division One title, to go alongside their Elizabeth Jaques and Queen Mary Cup wins. An unbelievable season and they will hope to go on and challenge in the John Cooper Premier Division next season.

Farnborough OBG 3rds made it back-to-back promotions, winning second place after another great season, in which they reached the Queen Mary Cup final after beating Premier champions, Agenda. Both sides will be hoping to do well in the top flight next seaason.

Bexley A clinch title on dramatic last day

Massive congratulations to Bexley 'A' for winning the Richard Ayling Division Two, with a last day double of wins over title rivals, Stansfeld O & B A. They win promotion to Jim Hampson Division One. Well done to everyone that has been involved in the team this season.

Joining them with be Atletico Londres, who secured second spot in the division. It remains to be seen if Stansfeld and/or Eltham Eagles join them in promotion.

Pace-Setters WWA and Agenda look the sides to beat

October saw the leagues start to take shape. In the John Cooper Premier Division, West Wickham Albion thrashed South Dulwich and OLAHM before a draw with Eltham Town saw them drop their first points of the season. Agenda are also unbeaten, winning against South Dulwich and Russellers, before also drawing with Eltham Town. Previous champions, Old Roan, got back on form with a big win against Russellers. Forestdale and Falconwood both had mixed results.

In the Jim Hampson Division One, Crofton Albion and Sporting Club Beckenham look to be leading the race for promotion. Crofton beat GroundHoppers before drawing with Standard Ballers. Sporting thrashed Matagalpa to close the gap at the top. This is the most competitive division, with every side having picked up a win already.

In Division Three, Stansfeld A and Bexley A had a strong month, Bexley taking 7 points from 9 and Stansfeld 9 points from 12. The likes of Eltham Eagles, NatWest Bank and Atletico Londres had mixed results and will need to show some consistency to challenge for the promotion places.

Cups get into full swing with some surprising results

The Bromley and South London Cups got going in earnest on the same day that the London Junior Cup had its round one. There were mixed results in the London Cup, as Matagalpa squeezed past Eltham Eagles on penalties, after a 3-3 draw. Crofton Albion went down, narrowly, to Long Lane, 2-3. Progressing through are OLAHM, who smashed AFC Lewisham 5-0 and Agenda, who beat Together United 3-0. So Matagalpa, OLAHM and Agenda progress, joining Beckenham, Catford, Russellers and South Dulwich, who received byes into round 3.

In our league cups, the Queen Mary saw Eden Park brush aside Beckenham 7-0, George Montague with a hat-trick. Eltham Town edged past South Dulwich 3-2 in a battle of two league heavyweights and Bexley A beat London Legends 4-2. In the Elizabeth Jaques, Standard Ballers set their stall out as potential winners with a strong 9-2 win against Red Velvet Reserves, as Bradley Hutcheson and Ibrahim Mohamed both hit hat-tricks.

In league action, the John Cooper Premier Division saw a shock, as early pace-setters, West Wickham Albion were beaten 3-2 by Russellers. Falconwood got back to winning ways in a 5-2 victory over Catford, Dejuarn Gayle-Kirby with two.

In the Jim Hampson Division Two, Chelsfield suffered a heavy defeat, 0-6, at the hands of a rampant Sporting Club Beckenham, benefitting from being a team getting some sleep nowadays. In the other game, Red Velvet Reserves narrowly defeated GroundHoppers 4-3.

In the Richard Ayling Division Three, a hat-trick from Gabino Blaya helped Atletico Londres to a 6-2 win against All Starz Spartans United. Bexleyheath Lions shared a 2-2 draw with Nat West Bank and Main Road suffered a heavy defeat in their first league match, losing 0-9 to Stansfeld A, for whom David Offeh scored four.

Fixtures resume following break for the national period of mourning.

Fixtures resumed on 17th September with many teams playing their first game of the season, some their first ever game.

In the John Cooper Premier Division, Agenda and West Wickham Albion made it two wins from two by defeating Eden Park and Catford respectively. Forestdale achieved their first ever win, impressively beating last year's runners-up, Old Roan, 2-0. South Dulwich bounced back to winning way, defeating Falconwood 5-0, Theo Stubbs netting 4 goals. The final game pitted last season's champions and runners-up in Division One, with the runners-up, Eltham Town running out comfortable 6-1 victors, Dan Corbett with a hat-trick.

In Jim Hampson Division One, the Crofton Albion made it back-to-back wins, with an impressive 5-1 win over GroundHoppers, Ebrima Touray grabbing a hat-trick. Sporting Club Beckenham won their first game with their new name (they were previously known as TNS United) 2-0 against Farnborough OBG. Standard Ballers edged a close game against Red Velvet Reserves 2-1, while the other game in the division was abandoned, with Matagalpa leading 3-0 against Milldean.

In the Richard Ayling Division Three, Eltham Eagles are the early pace-setters, getting their second win on the spin, 4-1, against Atletico Londres. Red Velvet 3rds beat All Starz Spartans United 6-2. Bexley A were goal-happy in their win over Beckenham - 5-0. Bexleyheath Lions edged out London Legends, on their return to the league, winning 1-0.

In the cups, the Elizabeth Jaques Cup started with a harsh lesson for new-boys, Main Road, who were beaten 10-0 by an established side in Bromleians 3rds. In the Queen Mary Cup, Stansfeld are through, after a narrow 3-2 victory away to NatWest.

Season off with a bang with some cracking results!

Season 2022-23 started with some wins by familiar sides and some new. In the Premier Division, Agenda underlined their title credentials with a 4-2 win over new-boys Forestdale. The other new boys in the Premier Division, Falconwood Reserves, recorded an impressive win 3-1 over Division One champions Russellers. West Wickham Albion overcame South Dulwich 2-1 in the other match.

In Division One, Red Velvet Reserves won a narrow battle with the returning Milldean, coming out on top with a 2-1 victory. Crofton Albion came back from two-nil down to beat Bromleians 3rds comfortably, eventually running out 6-2 winners.

In Division Two, Stansfeld A thrashed new side All Starz Spartans United 9-0. They will be in the promotion mix for sure, as will NatWest, who beat Bexley A 3-1 and Eltham Eagles, who won 5-2 against Bexleyheath Lions.

Eltham Town 2-1 Agenda

Eltham Town edged a thrilling cup final to win the Ron Pope Cup. An early penalty sent Eltham Town into the lead, but Agenda then piled on the pressure in the first half, scoring a deserved equaliser after a shot was closed down, but ran kindly for the Agenda attacker to tuck it away. As on the previous Saturday, Agenda were the better team in the first half, but faded in the second. Eltham Town were positive and the pace of their striker and wingers were a constant threat. The winning goal came from a superb right-wing cross that found the onrushing midfielder to tuck away the winner at the far post. Agenda strived for an equaliser, but Eltham Town came out on top, to lift the Ron Pope Cup.

Farnborough Old Boys Guild 4ths thrash Eltham Eagles to life the Elizabeth Jaques Cup

Farnborough OBG 4ths 7-1 Eltham Eagles

Farnborough Old Boys Guild made it two wins in 4 days, as the 4ths thumped Eltham Eagles to lift the Elizabeth Jaques trophy. Eltham Eagles took the lead with a cross that hit the top corner. From then on it was all Farnborough, as they equalised on the half hour and then ran away with it, scoring four by half-time. Eltham Eagles never gave up fighting, but Farnborough were a class above, scoring 3 more to finish with a 7-1 win, adding the Elizabeth Jaques Cup to their Second Division title.

Agenda 2-3 (AET) Farnborough OBG 3rds

Farnborough Old Boys Guild 3rds take the Queen Mary Cup trophy, after an epic cup final. Agenda deservedly led 1-0 at the interval, only to see Farnborough come out on the attack in the second half, getting a well earned equaliser. As the game entered extra-time, it could have gone either way, but Farnborough were able to score twice in the space of a few minutes. Agenda pulled one back, late on, but it was not enough.

Congratulations to Farnborough what a fantastic season!

Following a great campaign, Old Roan are crowned champions

Following their 4-1 win against Bermondsey Town on Saturday, 15th May, Old Roan have clinched the John Cooper Premier Division. After a battle with FC Greenwich for the trophy, Old Roan will be delighted to have won the 2020-21 title after leading the 2019-20 season when lockdown struck. Congratulations to manager, Tom Lawrence and all the Old Roan players on a terrific season that has seen them lose only once.

The restart is now three weeks in and the league committee would like to thank all the volunteers, club officials, managers, players and referees for making the restart so successful. This has not happened by accident and we are really pleased that everyone is back doing what they love on a Saturday afternoon and keeping themselves safe.

Clubs Vote to Complete the Season

Following the SGM, the BASLFL clubs have voted to complete the league season. The cups are null and void and the league fixtures will continue into June. Some clubs have decided to pull out and go again next season, but the remaining clubs will restart on Saturday, 3rd June.

Go0d luck to all our clubs, and to the players, whose physical and mental health will be massively boosted by this return to doing what they love. Thanks to all the hugely hardworking club administrators for working with the wonderful league committee, including the invaluable club representatives, to allow all this to happen.

Meeting to decide how to continue the season

All clubs will be meeting via Zoom on Thursday, 11th March, at 8pm, to decide on how to proceed this season.

Option 1 - continue with league games and abandon cups.

Option 2 - null and void season and play friendly tournaments.

Hopefully we can get a consensus on how to complete the 2020-21 season.

New Lockdown mean Grassroots Football is on hold once again

The league is currently suspended until further notice, following the government announcement of a third national lockdown. The committee will be monitoring the news and planning for how the season can be restarted and completed once we get the go-ahead to play again.

RIP George Houlden and John Pitts

Sadly just before Christmas, one of the league's Vice-Presidents, George Houlden passed away. We have now heard this week that John Pitts, a referee and committee member who gave many years service to grassroots football, has also passed away. Sad times, the league wishes to offer its most sincere condolences to both families.

It is with great sadness that I have to report that our President Richard Ayling passed away yesterday. Those clubs from the South London Football Alliance will have known Richard for many years as he was our secretary for over 20 years and also in later years took on the role as Treasurer. Before becoming an integral part of the League Richard was secretary of Furness Football Club for many years, Furness were also a member of the SLFA. As Secretary of the SLFA Richard had an incredible knowledge of the rules and ensured the League was run in a very professional manner, he would spend many hours dealing with League correspondence and always made himself available to clubs who needed advice.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Brenda and her family at this sad time.

Following the end of the National Lockdown, fixtures will recommence in December

The league has decided that it will restart fixtures from the 5th December. Some clubs will not be able to play, as they have players who live in Tier 3 Kent and the league does not wish any side to play a weakened line-up through no fault of their own. Fixtures will also be cast on the 19th December and 2nd January for those clubs who wish to play. Hopefully the new year will see some good news with the Covid-19 crisis and life getting back to normal.

Latest news from the league

In October, some divisions started to take shape, whilst some look hugely competitive. Some teams were unbeaten, some winless, some gained their first wins, some suffered their first defeats. So let's take a look around the divisions:

John Cooper Premier Division
FC Greenwich lead the way, after winning all four league games, scoring goals for fun. Mickey Brown was in sensational form all month, with 12 goals in 4 league games. With him in this form, they will be hard to beat. Hot on their heels are Old Roan and Balma, who are both in great form. However, they both suffered their first defeats of the season, to Bermondsey Town and Leyton Athletic Reserves, which shows how competitive the division is this season. Bermondsey are in touch with the leaders, having lost to Balma, but beaten Old Roan. Eltham Town are not out of it either, with win and a loss in the league. TenEmBee also look like they will take points of anyone, with impressive wins over Erith and Belvedere Reserves and West Wickham Albion. Further back are Leyton Athletic Reserves, who beat Balma, but were hammered by FC Greenwich. Then AMG Ballerz, who managed only two points in October. Then there is West Wickham Albion, finding their feet with a couple of draws, Erith and Belvedere, who gained their first league win on the 31st of October, over AMG Ballerz. Then Holmesdale are winless, but drew three of their five league games in October.

Jim Hampson Division One
Eden Park took control of Division One in October, with 9 points from 9. Fellow promoted side, South Dulwich, also impressed, with a maximum 9 points from their league fixtures. Lewisham Athletic also took 9 points, but suffered defeat against promotion rivals South Dulwich. West Bromley Albion had mixed results, with a win, draw and defeat. Russellers and Agenda won their only league games that they played, whilst Ground Hoppers lost their only fixture. Red Velvet Reserves slipped, losing all three league games after an impressive September. Eltham Town Reserves won two and lost two, to keep them sitting just in the bottom half. Welling Park Reserves gained their first win of the season, got another draw and lost two. Farnborough OBG 3rds lost all three league games they played, two by 1-2, which must be frustrating. Propping up the rest is Lewisham Project, still without a win.

Division Two
Famborough OBG 4ths are still unbeaten in the league, with 9 points out of 9 in the league. Old Bexley Town were also unbeaten, with three wins and two draws. STC climbed the table, with three wins, a draw and a single defeat. Matagalpa had an unbeaten month in the league, but only from two games, a win and a draw. Peckham Town A are still in contention at the top, with a couple of wins in October. Crofton Albion slipped back in the division, whilst TNS are still having mixed results - two wins, two defeats. Beckenham won a couple more games to keep themselves in touch with mid-table. Eltham Eagles only played once in the league, but suffered defeat to Farnborough. Elite lost both league games, whilst Welling United Deaf and London Legends remain without a point.

Division Three
Division Three is quite competitive this season. Eltham Eagles top the pile at present after three league wins in October, although the month ended with defeat to FC Peak. Chelsfield similarly started brightly, with two wins, before suffering their first league defeat on the 31st, against Catford, for who it was a first league win. FC Peak and Teviot Rangers look in contention for promotion, but Milldean are still with a 100% record, winning their October league games 9-0 and 6-1. Red Velvet A suffered a couple of heavy defeats before grabbing a draw against Catford. Slade Green Knights continued their frustrating campaign with a win and a loss in the league. Dulwich Village Reserves picked up a win alongside three losses, but are away from the bottom, where Beckenham Knights and South East Athletic A are still without a point.

Update on the first month of the season

Division Three

The bottom division of the league saw a host of teams moving up the league, with TNS, STC, Charlton Athletic Deaf and Matagalpa all moving to Division Two. The remaining teams were Teviot Rangers (now the only Teviot team, therefore the first team), Eltham Eagles Reserves, Slade Green Knights, Catford, Dulwich Village Reserves, FC Peak and South East Athletic A. They were joined by the newly formed Red Velvet A, a new side in Chelsfield, a Sunday side bringing in a Saturday team, Milldean and finally Beckenham Knights, who did not play in September.

New-boys Chelsfield , are looking really good, with a start that has seen them have an opening win snatched away with a late penalty against Teviot Rangers (3-3), before wins against Dulwich Village Reserves (6-1), South East Athletic (3-1) and Slade Green Knights (3-1).

With a 100% start after 3 games, Eltham Eagles Reserves are second, with wins against Slade Green Knights (4-1), South East Athletic A (3-1) and Red Velvet A (6-3). What a tremendous start for a club hoping for promotion for both their teams. James Seale leads the scoring charts with 4 in 3 games.

FC Peak struggled a lot in their first season, but have hit the ground running in 2020-21, with a hammering of South East Athletic A (10-4) followed by a defeat to Slade Green Knights (2-6), before another win against Catford (2-1) and a narrow defeat against Red Velvet A having led 3-0 (3-4). It took them to November to get 2 wins last season, so they will be happy. Dan Hooley has 8 in 4 games already.

Slade Green Knights have had an up-and-down start, with an opening defeat to Eltham Eagles Reserves (1-4) followed by impressive wins against FC Peak (6-2) and Dulwich Village Reserves (5-0), only to lose again to Chelsfield (1-3). They will hope for greater consistency to put a title challenge together. Kolade Giwa will help them get there, he has 8 in 4 games.

Red Velvet A have made a solid start to life in the league, with a win over Dulwich Village (2-1) preceeding a loss to high-flying Eltham Eagles Reserves (3-6), before getting back to winning ways with that comeback win against FC Peak (4-3).

Teviot Rangers had a tough opening fixture to Chelsfield, who they had lost to in pre-season, but they scraped a draw with a 94th minute penalty (3-3), then losing to Milldean, another strong new team (2-4), before getting their first win against South East Athletic A (3-0).

Milldean started late in the league after joining at the end of August. They have won in their only league game so far, against Teviot Rangers (4-2). They will be hoping to put up a promotion challenge.

Dulwich Village Reserves lost their first three fixtures - Red Velvet A (1-2), Chelsfield (1-6) and Slade Green Knights (0-5). Then gained a win against Catford to get their season started (2-1).

Catford are without a point, following narrow losses to FC Peak (1-2) and Dulwich Village Reserves (1-2). They will be sure to pick up their first points soon.

South East Athletic A were the whipping boys last season, and have lost all 4 games so far this term - FC Peak (4-10), Eltham Eagles Reserves (1-3), Chelsfield (1-3) and Teviot Rangers (0-3). Performances have improved since the opening day defeat and I am sure they will improve further.

Beckenham Knights are yet to play a game and I wish them well when they start their fixtures in October.

The new 2020-2021 season is under way. The league committee is delighted that football has restarted and are looking forward to seeing how the season unfolds. September has seen some excellent performances and really interesting results. Below is a division by division review of September.

Division Two
There was a new look to Division Two with only 5 of last season's teams still in the division. Beckenham, Crofton Albion, Eltham Eagles, Farnborough Old Boys Guild 4ths and Old Bexley Town (formerly New Russellers) were joined by a host of new sides. STC and TNS were promoted after flying through Division Three. Matagalpa and Welling United Deaf (formerly Charlton Athletic Deaf) also moved up from Division Three. Elite Performance moved down from the Premier Division and London Legends rejoined the league a division lower. Peckham Town A were the new side in the division.

Crofton Albion have started the season in great form, following up a win over Matagalpa (4-2) by beating Beckenham in the battle of Weigall Road (3-2) and then seeing off Elite Performance (8-2). Sadly their game against Eltham Eagles was abandoned, but 9 points from 9 constitutes an excellent start for John Lau's men. Nathan Laurence leads the scoring charts, with 4 in 3 games.
Next in the table are Farnborough OBG 4ths , who are always so difficult to beat and have started the season with 3 wins out of 3 also. They opened with a win against Old Bexley Town (1-0), then saw off Welling United Deaf (5-2), before a comfortable victory over Peckham Town A (6-2). Jack Hollidge has 4 in 3 games.
Old Bexley Town ended 2019-20 really well and have picked up 6 points from their opening 3 league games. An impressive win over TNS United (4-1) was followed by a narrow defeat to Farnborough OBG 4ths (0-1), then a whopping 13-0 win against London Legends. Ryan Carey and Ben Crumpton both have 5 goals from 4 games.
Matagalpa have stepped up a division well, winning two and losing one. Following an opening defeat to Crofton (2-4), they have won two on the spin - TNS United (3-1) and Beckenham (4-1). Sebastian Morley has 4 in 4 games.
Eltham Eagles will be looking for promotion this season and have started well, beating Welling United Deaf (6-2) and STC Sports (1-0), with a defeat to TNS United (0-1) in the middle of that run. As explained earlier, a top-of-the-table clash with Crofton Albion was sadly abandoned. Luke Berwick has 6 goals already.
STC , unbeaten in the league in their debut season, have found life a bit tougher in Division Two. A win against Peckham Town A (2-0) was impressive, but was followed by a narrow loss to Eltham Town (0-1) in the battle of Ivor Grove. They will hope to pick up their form in the coming weeks.
Beckenham had a season to forget last year, but started more brightly in 2020, losing their opening fixture narrowly to Crofton (2-3) before winning against London Legends (4-2). This was followed by a loss to Matagalpa (1-4), so they will be hoping to rediscover their best form in October, having added a reserve side to the league.
Peckham Town A had a very impressive opening day victory over London Legends (5-1), before that loss to STC Sports (0-2) and another defeat to Farnborough OBG 4ths (2-6). With a young side and ambitious coach, they will be a team to watch this season.
Elite Performance, or EPSET fielded two sides last season, but struggled and ended up with one. They have gone down to Division Two to rebuild this term and have started with a win (5-2 against London Legends) and a loss (2-8 to Crofton Albion). They will hope to find stability in this division.
TNS United were brilliant in Division Three of their opening campaign in the BASLFL. A step up has been tough, with a defeat to Old Bexley Town (1-4) followed by an impressive win to inflict Eltham Eagles only loss this season (1-0) before losing to Matagalpa (1-3). They are too good to struggle and these results show how competitive this division is.
Welling United Deaf are yet to get a point on the board, with losses to Eltham Eagles (3-6) and Farnborough OBG 4ths (2-5). They will hope to change this soon.
As will London Legends , who have lost all four games played in September - Peckham Town A (1-5), Elite Performance (2-5), Beckenham (2-4) and Old Bexley Town (0-13). These results will be hard to take, but with an impressive youth set-up I am sure they will turn it around.

Update on the first month of the season

Jim Hampson Division One

Division One has a competitive look to it this season, with lots of teams that could challenge for promotion. Last season, Russellers, Eltham Town Reserves and GroundHoppers were looking to gain the second promotion spot behind Teviot Rangers and will be back this season. Agenda had fallen away and will look to improve in their second season. Welling Park Reserves, Red Velvet Reserves and Farnborough Old Boys Guild 3rds will be hoping to improve on last year, whilst Lewisham Athletic return to the division. West Bromley Albion have come down from the Premier Division to rebuild their side. Eden Park and South Dulwich have been moved up from Division Two and will hope to prove that they can compete at this level. Lewisham Project make up the 12, with an ambitious set-up of youth teams and some excellent senior players.

Red Velvet Reserves have started the season in brilliant form, with a huge win over Eden Park (7-3) was followed by a closer victory over South Dulwich (0-2) and a even narrower win over Lewisham Project (1-0). Red Velvet are such a well-run club, with great links to players and manager Jim Kenny will be hoping to keep up their charge for promotion, banking on the goals of Dane Keenan, who already has 5 in 3 games.

Eden Park opened with that surprisingly heavy defeat to Red Velvet Reserves (3-7), before finding their feet in Division One with a win against Lewisham Project (3-0), a draw with GroundHoppers (2-2) and a thrashing of Welling Park Reserves (10-1). They will be looking for promotion, having been robbed of a certain Division Two title win last year. James Hunter already has 5 goals this season and Andrea Carrera, who scored for fun last season, has 4 in 4.

West Bromley Albion have adjusted really well to life in Division One. Having struggled for a couple of seasons in the Premier Division, they have 2 wins from 2, beating Eltham Town Reserves (6-3) and Russellers (4-1). They are impressive wins and Andy Brobbey had 4 in those 2 games. They look certain to be in the mix for the title.

GroundHoppers are unbeaten after 4 games, with an opening day win over Eltham Town Reserves (4-0), followed by 3 draws, against Agenda (1-1), Eden Park (2-2) and South Dulwich (0-0). Excellent cup runs, including a semi-final appearance in the London Junior Cup meant that they had played many fewer games than their title contenders last season. This year they will be hoping to be in the top two.

South Dulwich have adjusted well to life in Division One, after being moved up from Division Two. After drawing their opening match with Russellers (2-2), they lost to Red Velvet Reserves (0-2), before a big win over Agenda (5-1) and a creditable draw with GroundHoppers (0-0) A side who have been able to beat anyone in Division Two over the last two seasons, they will hope for greater consistency this year to make a charge for promotion.

Agenda also have 5 points from their first 4 games, with an opening day win against Welling Park Reserves (3-0), followed by a draw with Agenda (1-1), a heavy loss to South Dulwich (1-5), before recovering their form with a decent draw against Lewisham Athletic (3-3). They will hope to pick up their form, or they will be mid-table, like last year.

Russellers have had a mixed start, with a draw on the opening weekend with South Dulwich (3-3), a win against Lewisham Athletic (2-1) and a loss to West Bromley Albion (1-4). Having lost some players over the summer, they may not be as strong as last year, but are always tough to beat.

Farnborough Old Boys Guild 3rds have won their only game, 3-1 against Lewisham Project, which is really promising for them. Hopefully they will improve on last season, where they struggled. This is certainly a great start.

Lewisham Athletic are back in the league and have proved as competitive as ever, with a narrow loss to Russellers (1-2) followed by an entertaining draw with Agenda (3-3). A team who will be difficult to play against for anyone.

Eltham Town Reserves could not win before Christmas last season before being unbeatable afterwards So far they have only picked up 1 point, with a loss to GroundHoppers (0-4) followed by a draw with Welling Park Reserves (3-3) and a loss to West Bromley Albion (3-6). In such a competitive division, where everyone will take points off everyone, they cannot be discounted from a promotion push. The goals of Greg Williams will help, he has 7 in 3 already.

Welling Park Reserves have struggled over pre-season and at the start of the year. Following a loss to Agenda (0-3) they drew with Eltham Town Reserves (3-3) before a heavy defeat to Eden Park (1-10). With such a successful first team and a mix of youthful talent and experience skill, they will surely improve on this start.

Lewisham Project have found their introduction to the Bromley and South London Football League tough. 3 losses in their opening 3 games will be hard to take – Eden Park (0-3), Red Velvet Reserves (0-1) and Farnborough OBG 3rds (1-3). The last two were tight games and it will not be long before Lewisham Project start to pick up points.

September Review - John Cooper Premier Division

John Cooper Premier Division

The Premier Division promises to be a fantastic competition this season, with the four sides who could still have conceivably won the title last season, still in the competition – Old Roan, Balma, Eltham Town and FC Greenwich. Bermondsey Town and AMG Ballerz had both fallen away from a title challenge, but can beat anyone on their day. Leyton Athletic Reserves are also back, hoping to improve on the debut season. Added to the mix are Erith & Belvedere Reserves, up from Division Two and three new sides, TenEmBee, Holmesdale Reserves/U23s and West Wickham Albion, all exciting set-ups. Sadly, Teviot Rangers, who ran away with Division One last year, folded before they had a chance to show their worth in the Premier Division.

Old Roan are top of the pile so far, with 4 wins out of 4 – FC Greenwich (3-2), West Wickham Albion (5-0), TenEmBee (3-1) and Erith & Belvedere Reserves (3-1). They have started in fantastic form, as they ended last season, where in all likelihood, they would have won the league. Once again Pat Brennan has been in red-hot form, with 9 in 4 games.

Balma also boast a 100% record, but from 3 league games. They have beaten Erith & Belvedere (5-3), FC Greenwich (6-1) and West Wickham Albion (5-1). They look more potent in attack than last season and already have two players on 7 goals – Ross Cable and Rommell Simmonds. They will be right up there again this season.

Eltham Town have had a mixed start to the season, losing on the opening day to Bermondsey Town (1-4), before two victories against TenEmBee (4-3) and Leyton Athletic Reserves (5-2), before losing to FC Greenwich (3-8). They will need to be more consistent if they are to sustain a title challenge, but will be pleased with the start made by Dan Corbett, who has bagged 7 goals in 4 games.

Bermondsey Town have started promisingly, with an impressive win against Eltham Town (4-1) followed by a decent point against FC Greenwich (2-2). With a ground share with Fisher FC, and after a good pre-season and relaunching their Sunday side, things look really promising for Bermondsey.

FC Greenwich definitely had the toughest start to the new season, playing four of the other top six last season. They opened with a narrow defeat to Old Roan (2-3), before a draw with Bermondsey Town (2-2), a heavy loss to Balma (1-6) before bouncing back with a big win against Eltham Town (8-3). They will not be completely satisfied with 4 points from 4 games, but are not out of the title race, having played most of their rivals already. They have been thankful for the form of Mickey Brown, who was excellent last season, and has 5 in 3 games already.

AMG Ballerz started the new term with a win against Erith & Belvedere Reserves (4-2), before a narrow loss to TenEmBee (1-2). They appear to have tightened up their defence, but will need to be more consistent if they to break away from mid-table.

Leyton Athletic Reserves use the BASLFL to develop younger players and will not be too disheartened by their start. After losing to Eltham Town (2-5), they won against a similarly youthful Holmesdale Reserves (4-1). Although they will not be up amongst the top sides, they always try to play football the right way.

TenEmBee are new to the league and boast an impressive manager, who works with young players at Millwall. They will be another young side, with positive reports from opposition that they also like to play good football. Following narrow losses to top sides, Eltham Town (3-4) and Old Roan (1-3), they got their first three points against AMG Ballerz (2-1). They will surprise a few teams this season I think.

West Wickham Albion come to the league with a host of players who have played at a higher level, but for one reason or another had fallen out of the game. They will take time to gel as a team, after a really late start to pre-season, but obviously boast some serious talent. They have faced the current top two, losing to Old Roan (0-5) and Balma (1-5) sandwiched between a victory over Erith & Belvedere Reserves (5-3). I think they will get stronger as the season progresses.

Holmesdale Reserves/U23s have only played one league game so far, a loss to Leyton Athletic Reserves (1-4). With the first team in the SCEFL, they will have access to some excellent young players and will hope to improve as the season progresses.

Propping up the table at present are Erith & Belvedere Reserves , who have lost all four so far – Balma (3-5), AMG Ballerz (2-4), West Wickham Albion (3-5) and Old Roan (1-3). These narrow losses will hurt manager Harry Lock and his team, but show that they can compete with the top sides in the division. They will pick up points before long I am sure.

League and Cup Fees Free for Existing Clubs

The League Chairman announces financial relief for member clubs

To all our member clubs,

The Management committee met remotely this week to discuss season 2020/2021. As you are aware our AGM is due to take place towards the end of June when any proposals are voted on, however that is dependent on Government guidelines allowing such meetings.

The committee felt that it was essential to help all our clubs plan and budget for next season and given the current financial plight that many clubs have suffered we have taken the decision that no League or Cup Fees will be charged for next season by those clubs that completed the season. Any new clubs or new reserve teams of current clubs that wish to join the league will be expected to pay the normal fees. To those clubs that can afford it we would ask that you donate the normal League affiliation fees to a charity of your choice.We hope our actions will enable all our clubs to be able to survive the summer and compete in our League next season. Any clubs that are encountering financial hardship we would urge you to speak to your County FA who will be able to point you to the various grant schemes available.

Hopefully we can all meet up at our AGM, in the meantime stay home and stay safe,

Statement from the League Chairman

To All Member Clubs and Referees

We have now reached the point where it is not in the best interest of all parties to continue with the planned fixture schedule. We have spoken with colleagues in other leagues and a unified approach is being sought.

The league will now postpone fixtures,at this time for an unspecified period, and will advise all clubs if this should change.

We will continue to monitor the situation and once we have received further advice from the governing bodies we will advise all of any decisions the league committee will take. Thank you for your patience in this matter but it is an ever changing picture.

Cup Final Dates

The Bromley and South London League is pleased to announce its cup final dates for the 2020/21 season. It is proposed to play the finals for the Queen Mary Cup, Ron Pope Cup and Elizabeth Jaques Cup on Saturday 2nd May, Wednesday 6th May and Saturday 9th May. These finals are always fantastic occasions for the league and we are really looking forward to some great finals.

Congratulations to South Dulwich, winners of the Elizabeth Jaques Cup Final this week. A resounding 6-0 win against Welling Town A secured the trophy, in only the second season for the club. Well done to everyone involved at South Dulwich and commiserations to Welling Town A, who have acquitted themselves really well in their debut season in the league, reaching the cup final an achievement in itself with such a young side.

Review of the last two weeks action.

In the John Cooper Premier Division, Meridian continue to lead the way. On 27th October, Meridian thrashed FC Greenwich 5-0, Abdulkadri Hafeez again on the score-sheet with a double. Red Velvet kept up their impressive start to the season, winning 3-2 against their landlords, Eltham Town. Early pace-setters, Greenwich Borough U23s drew an entertaining match with Frazier, 4-4, Dikasi Misima Anoma netting twice. On 3rd November, there were only two games in the top-flight and Meridian and Red Velvet A won again. They really look like the teams to beat. Meridian beat Frazier 3-1, Joseph Nolan with a brace, whilst Red Velvet smashed nine past Eden Park Rangers, with no reply. Jack Carthy scored a hat-trick, Scott Guichard and Lee McCarron twice each.

In the Jim Hampson Division One, Cray Wanderers Community continue to set the pace, with River Plate in second place. On 27th October, Cray were held to a 2-2 draw by Eltham Town Reserves, winners of Division Three last season. John Estrade Ruiz scored twice for Cray. River Plate could not take advantage of the leaders slip-up, as Old Roan, finding some form of their own, beat them 5-2, Terry Stark with a hat-trick. Lewisham Lions got their first victory, with a whopping 9-0 win over Farnborough Old Boys Guild 3rds. On 3rd November, Cray were back to winning ways, easing to a 4-0 victory over Erith and Belvedere Reserves. Old Roan won again, 4-0 at Lewisham Lions, Ryan Martin bagging a hat-trick. Farnborough Old Boys Guild bounced back from defeat to Lewisham Lions to beat Old Colfeians and ruin their 100% start to the season.

In Division Two, South Dulwich have been transformed from last season. On 27th October they thrashed New Russellers 10-2, Sam Twyman getting a hat-trick from the bench and Theo Stubbs getting two. Russellers also won impressively, 7-2 against Bosco Falcons, Fabian Gibson their hat-trick hero, with Kane Cameron getting two. In the other match, Farnborough 4ths drew 1-1 with Eden Park. On 3rd November, South Dulwich were upset by a superb Eden Park display - the league new-boys winning 2-1 at home, thanks to goals by James Dorsett and Niyaz Chowdhury. With second placed Farnborough OBG 4ths in cup action, Crofton Albion had a chance to move up, but lost to Eltham Eagles, who will feel that their luck is finally changing. They won 5-3, thanks to two goals by Alex Foston. Danny Steele scored twice for Crofton, who stay in 3rd. Russellers won again, 4-2 against Ground Hoppers, Fabian Gibson grabbing another two goals. They move up to 5th. Bosco and Welling Town A drew the other match in the division, 2-2.

In Division Three, despite having players poached by Metrogas, Teviot Rangers have kept on top. With a couple of weeks off from league fixtures, there was a chance for the chasing pack to close the gap. Seven Acre Sports has their game postponed and AWS and Welling Park Reserves were also in cup action, so Latter Day Saints were the big winners, 5-0 away to Bosco Reserves. Charlton Athletic Deaf won 2-1 against South East Athletic A, who are still finding their feet in the league. On the 3rd November, the top two were playing cup games, so others could close the gap again. AWS slipped to a surprise 4-2 defeat against South East Athletic A, for whom Rauri MacFarlane scored twice. Charlton Athletic Deaf secured another 2-1 win, this time away at Wickham Park Reserves. Slade Green Knights registered their second win of the season, 3-2 against Dulwich Village Reserves.

In the BASLFL Cups, there have been good progress. All the Queen Mary Cup 1st round matches have now been played. On 27th October, Welling Park Reserves pulled off an upset, beating Beckenham 4-3. Half of the 2nd round games have now also been played, meaning that we know 8 of our 3rd round teams. On 27th October, Crofton Albion won through, 3-0 against Erith and Belvedere Reserves. They were joined by Wickham Park, who beat Old Colfeians 3-1. On 6th October, Latter-Day Saints also caused an upset, beating Lewisham Lions by 5 goals to 2. Eden Park Rangers also find themselves in the hat for round 3, after the demise of Bromleians 3rds.
Progress has been slower in the Ron Pope Cup, with no games in the last two weeks.
In the Elizabeth Jaques, there has been some progress. On 27th October, AWS won their 1st round game, 5-2 against Dulwich Village Reserves. On 3rd November, Teviot won through in the first round, beating New Russellers 4-1. On the same day, Seven Acre Sports became the first team through to the quarter-finals, with a 1-0 win over Latter-Day Saints.

There has been no action in the Beckenham Hospitals Cup either, but plenty of games in the Kent and London Junior Cups.
In the Kent Junior Cup, Welling Park are through, winning 5-2 against Green Street Green Rovers. Red Velvet are also through, winning 7-0 against Wickham Park. Farnborough OBG 4ths are out, losing on penalties to Pavillion, after a 1-1 draw. Also out are Kingsdale, who lost a tough game against Johnson and Phillips, 3-2, and FC Greenwich, 4-0 losers against Belvedere.
In the London Junior Cup, West Bromley Albion are out, losing 10-4 to FC Roast.

BASLFL upsets in the County Cups

Meridian stay top of the Premier as BASLFL sides win impressively in outside cups - 20/10/18

The outside cup competitions allow BASLFL sides to see how they match up to teams in other leagues and they did the league proud today. In the Beckenham Hosptials Cup, Red Velvet 'A' hosted Division Two West Kent County side, Crayford Arrows and beat them 2-0Ozz Hassan and Gary Wolard with the goals. West Bromley Albion also played a Division Two West side, Metrogas Reserves, and beat them 4-3, the goals shared between Junior Adeniyi, Richard Fowler, Mada Mbewe and Jamal Gray.

In the Queen Mary Cup, Cray Wanderers pulled off the shock of the round, beating Greenwich Borough U23s by 3 goals to 2, despite the best efforts of Dikasi Misima Anoma, who scored both Greenwich Borough goals. Manager Marton Saranyi was typically gracious in his assessment of the game, stating that they were "beaten fair and square by a really good Cray Wanderers Community side." Old Roan of Division One also surprised Premier Division opposition, beating Kingsdale 7-1, Ellissee Green and Terry Stark with braces. Teviot Rangers continued their impressive start to the season by also upsetting higher-placed opponents, although they needed penalties to overcome Lewisham Athletic, after a tense 1-1 draw. Another match that went to penalties, was between Slade Green Knights and Russellers, with Russellers edging it 5-4 after a 1-1 draw in normal time led to an exciting 3-3 finish after extra-time.

Back to league action, and Meridian continued their impressive run at the top of the table in the John Cooper Premier Divison. They ran out 6-1 winners against Eden Park Rangers, with Abdulkadri Hafeez again the main man, scoring twice. Wickham Park remain hot on their heels, winning 5-2 against FC Greenwich. Eltham Town also picked up another win, 2-1 away at Frazier.

On to the Jim Hampson Division One and with Cray Wanderers Community in cup action, there was a chance to close the gap at the top of the table. River Plate are keen on the chase, winning 7-2 against Lewisham Lions, hot-shot TJ Kode scoring two, along with Jordan Ogunde. Elsewhere, Beckenham got their first win and clean-sheet of the campaign with an impressive 5-0 win over Erith and Belvedere Reserves, Jai Perkins bagging 4 goals.

In Division Two, Farnborough are chasing the leaders South Dulwich. They were 4-1 at half-time against Bosco Falcons, by the second half was a tighter affair, with them running out 5-3 winners, Eddie Figg scoring twice. Crofton Albion stay in contention at the top of the table, after beating Eden Park 5-3, with Daniel McCaughan and Danny Steele both getting two. Eltham Eagles edged out Ground Hoppers 5-4, in a classic encounter, full of drama. Reggie Oliver was the match-winner, with two goals. Welling Town A also won impressively, 3-0 away to New Russellers.

In Division Three, with the leaders again in cup action, this time Teviot Rangers, there was an opportunity for others to close the gap. Welling Park Reserves took the opportunity, winning 3-0 against Latter-Day Saints, Liam George with two. AWS also won, 5-3 against Charlton Athletic Deaf, with George Rippley and Aaron Smith both scoring twice. Seven Acre Sports will rue missed chances in their 2-2 draw with Dulwich Village Reserves. Wickham Park Reserves continued their recent revival, running out 4-2 winners away to Old Roan Reserves. Elsewhere, Bosco Reserves recorded their first win, 6-4, against the 10-men of new boys, South East Athletic A.

Meridian take top spot on County Cup Weekend - 13/10/18

The big news in the John Cooper Premier Division on 13th October was the victory for Meridian that saw them rise to the top of the table for the first time this season. Taking advantage of others being in cup action, they ran out 3-2 winners away at Eltham Town. It was a keenly fought match, which was decided by a brace from Abdulkadri Hafeez. Red Velvet 'A' kept up their 100% winning record, with a 3-0 away victory over Eden Park Rangers. The other matches in the Premier Division saw FC Greenwich draw 1-1 with Frazier, who surprised everyone by managing to field 4 substitutes! Kingsdale's tough start to the season continued with a 3-1 loss to Wickham Park.

In the Jim Hampson First Division Cray Wanderers continued their 100% record, with a late winner seeing them beat Farnborough OBG 3rds, 3-2. With Old Colfeians and Eltham Town Reserves still with 100% records, this division looks like being a cracker. River Plate are in 4th, and their impressive start to the season continued with a 5-3 win over Beckenham. Beckenham are averaging two goals a game, but their problem is shipping goals at the other end of the pitch. Erith and Belvedere Reserves and Old Roan are still looking for their first wins, after sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Pierre Ndekey with a double for the Deres.

In Division Two, South Dulwich overtook Farnborough OBG 4ths at the top of the table, after a very impressive 6-1 win against their rivals. Rob Seaborne smashed a hat-trick to take himself to six goals for the season. Welling Town A are up to 3rd, after an impressive win of their own, 6-2 against Eltham Eagles. Christian Udo got two before substitute Toochukwu Olayinka scored a hat-trick. Ground Hoppers are in 4th, after beating Crofton Albion 5-2. Eden Park are got back to winning ways after their thumping at the hands of South Dulwich. They won 6-3 away to New Russellers, thanks to a hat-trick from James Hunter.

Teviot continue to set the standard in Division 3. They won a tight game against Latter-Day Saints, 4-2, with two late goals securing the victory, Dolapo Sano scoring two more, taking his tally to 6 in 4. Jeremy Owusu-Ansah scored again for Latter-Day Saints and leads the scoring charts with 8 goals. Seven Acre Sports are hot on the heels of the leaders, another win for them, 2-0 against Wickham Park Reserves. 3rd place is occupied by Welling Park Reserves, who overtook 4th placed AWS with a tight, 3-2 victory, Steve Hudson with a brace. South East Athletic 'A' made it two wins out of two, with a 3-2 victory over Slade Green Knights. Charlton Athletic Deaf had the biggest win of the weekend, running out 8-3 victors over Bosco Reserves. Dulwich Village Reserves recorded their first league win, 3-1 against Old Roan Reserves, Rafi Pavez-Hind with a hat-trick.

In the Ron Pope Cup, Premier Division Greenwich Borough U23s beat Lewisham Lions 4-1, Kenneth Lemchi with a hat-trick, to take him to 6 goals in 4 games.

In the County Cups the BASLFL teams did not fare too well. In the London Cup there were losses for Eltham Town Reserves 2-6, against West Fulham, Bosco Academy 0-3 against Turk Ocagi Bermondsey and Russellers 1-3 against HFSP Ten Em Bee. In the Kent Cup it was better news, as Old Colfeians continued their impressive early-season form, with an 11-0 win against Orpington Reserves.

Round-Up of weeks 3-5

The season has begun to take shape, as we reach week 5. Since the last round-up, the still have 6 teams with a 100% record in the league, including three with 3 wins out of 3 in the Jim Hampson Division One.

In the John Cooper Premier Division, Greenwich Borough U23s lead the way. On 22nd September they were held 3-3 in a tough match with Wickham Park. They got back to winning ways on the 29th, coming back from 0-1 down at half-time, to beat West Bromley Albion 3-1, Kenneth Lemchi scoring twice. They were humbled this Saturday, though, going down 2-8 to Meridian.
This was a result for Meridian that sees them soar into second place in the division. They are on an excellent run, having won 5-2 against West Bromley Albion in the league, before beating FC Greenwich 4-1 in the Queen Mary Cup, Abdulkadri Hafeez with a brace.
Red Velvet 'A' are third, with 6 points from 6. They won 3-0 against FC Greenwich thanks to a Joe Farrow hat-trick, before beating Kingsdale 5-1. This week they won through in the Kent Junior Cup, 6-0 against River Plate.
Fourth are Wickham Park, who followed up their draw against Greenwich Borough with a postponed match against Eltham Town, before thrashing Danson Sports (last season's Jim Hampson 1st Division winners before switching to the KCFL) 9-0 in the Kent County Cup.
Frazier are fifth, having won on 22nd September 4-3 against Kingsdale, Noah Hilton with two goals. They followed this up on the 29th by going down 2-1 to Eden Park Rangers. They will be glad to have got their first win.
FC Greenwich are next, having beaten Kingsdale 4-2 today.
They are follwoed by Eltham Town, with 3 points from 3. They have not played for two weeks, having beaten New Russellers 6-0 in the Queen Mary Cup on 22nd September, 3 goals from Sam Hayes and 2 from Matt Finch that day.
Eden Park Rangers have not played since their win against Frazier.
Without a win are West Bromley Albion, although they have only played twice in the league and Kingsdale, unlucky as they have led in all but one of their games so far. That first win will be just around the corner.

In the Jim Hampson Division One, Old Colfeians, Cray Wanderers and Eltham Town Reserves have 3 wins from 3 games. Old Colfeians lead the way on goal-difference after another walloping win on 22nd September, 10-2 against Beckenham. Lewis Lake and last-season's 2nd Division top-goalscorer, Ibrahim Aldouri, both with hat-tricks.
Cray Wanderers Community roll on, with wins against River Plate (3-1), Lewisham Lions (5-1) and an 8-0 victory over Erith and Belvedere Reserves in the Kent Cup.
Eltham Town Reserves beat Farnborough 3rds 5-3 and Erith and Belvedere 2-1 in the league, before a surprisingly big defeat to Old Roan in the Ron Pope Cup today, 0-5.
The best of the rest in are River Plate, on 4 points and keen to return to league action after a heavy loss to high-flying Red Velvet 'A' today. With a host of new players, they have made an excellent start.
Lewisham Athletic are also a club in transition and have had a decent start. They drew 5-5 with Old Roan on 22nd September, before winning 5-3 against Beckenham on 29th, with 5 different goal-scorers.
Farnborough 3rds followed their loss to Eltham Town Reserves with an excellent Queen Mary Cup win against Welling Town 'A' on 29th September, running out 3-2 winners.
Old Roan are next up and have really got their season started with that excellent cup win today. Manager Tom Lawrance will hope that they can push on now and take that form into the league.
Lewisham Lions have found life tough so far, as many new sides do. They managed their first point against Erith and Belvedere Reserves on 22nd September, but will be disappointed not to have got 3 points, having led 2-0 at half-time, before the game finished 2-2. They have subsequently lost 5-2 to Cray in the league and by the same score-line to Latter-Day Saints in the Queen Mary Cup.
Similarly, Erith and Belvedere have not yet found a winning formula, that comeback point against Lewisham Lions their only one so far. They will be hoping to turn it around in the coming weeks and I am sure that first win will not be too long in coming.
Another new side prop up the table, Beckenham having had a tough run of fixtures to start life in the BASLFL. Another team that will be looking to pick up points in the coming weeks.

Division Two looked really strong this season and has not disappointed so far. Unbeaten Farnborough OBG 4ths lead the way so far. Showing how tight the league is, they have won by the odd goal or two in each game. They won 4-2 against Ground Hoppers on 22nd September, Harry Smart with two goals. They followed this up with a tough 2-1 win against Crofton Albion, before beating Sevenoaks League side, AFC Orpington 3-2 in the Kent County Cup. A terrific season so far for a very young side, and manager Jez Allen must be delighted.
South Dulwich are second and have been in free-scoring form - 11-2 against Bosco followed by 7-0 against Eden Park. Tariq Naser got 4, Daniel Levey 3 and Rob Seaborne also 3 against Bosco, but none hit the net against Eden Park, showing a huge attacking potential. They won against this week, a tough 2-1 win against Eltham Eagles.
Crofton Albion are third, with a thumping win against Bromleians 3rds, 7-1 preceeding the loss to FOBG. Nathan Laurence smashed in a hat-trick.
New Russellers have started life in the BASLFL really well, although not so well in the cups. On 22nd September they lost 6-0 to Eltham Town in the Queen Mary. They got back to winning ways in the league, beating Russellers 4-3 in a thriller, Conor Fitzsimons with a double. They then lost in the Kent Cup to The Bull Reserves in another thriller, 5-4.
Eltham Eagles have been much stronger this season, with some tough losses to take. They won well against Bosco Falcons (5-1), helped by a Reginald Oliver hat-trick, sandwiched between two 2-1 losses to Eden Park and South Dulwich.
Russellers will be frustrated with their loss to New Russellers, having really got their season going with a 3-0 victory over Welling Town 'A' on 22nd September.
Welling Town 'A', another new side with a reputation for playing excellent football, followed up those losses to Russellers and Farnborough with a thumping 8-1 win over Bosco Football Academy Reserves today in the Elizabeth Jaques Cup, Darnel Coker, Jacob Smale and Christian Udo with two each. They will hope to use this as a springboard to push on in the league.
Ground Hoppers are another team with a mixed start that could go either way, having one win, one draw and one loss in the league. Having had two weeks off following the loss to Farnborough 4ths, they will hope to spring back with a win next week.
Eden Park will be happy to get off the mark with a win, having beaten Eltham Eagles 2-1 on 22nd September, James Hunter the match-winner with a brace. They were brought back down to earth with the loss to South Dulwich today, but need to be back to their best against New Russellers next week.
Bosco have had a bad run, having lost 11-2 to South Dulwich on 22nd September, followed by the 5-1 loss to Eltham Eagles. They will be hoping to get themselves back to winning ways next week.
Bromleians Thirds lost to Crofton 7-1 before changes at the club have meant they have asked for few weeks off. We all wish the club the best as they restructure their management.

Onwards to the Third Division and our most impressive record so far, as Teviot Rangers lead the way with 5 wins from 5. Manager Ray Berry has pulled together an excellent side and has been delighted with their form so far. A walloping 10-0 win against Old Roan Reserves (Terence Brady with a hat-trick, alongside braces for Dolapo Samo, Dean Philippe and Sam Shofowora) on 22nd September was followed by a 2-1 win in the top-of-the-table clash against Seven Acre Sports on the 29th. This week they won again, 5-0 away at Slade Green Knights.
Second-placed Seven Acre Sports won 10-2 against Bosco Reserves (William Field 3, William Edwards, Mickey Wright 2) and 1-0 against Charlton Deaf either side of that loss to Teviot. They have really improved since last season and will be hoping to keep their early-season form going.
AWS are also having a great start, winning 3-2 against Wickham Park Reserves, Dan Houdini with a double and 4-2 against Slade Green Knights, Mark Antoinee with two this time. Sadly, Old Roan Reserves could not get a side out to face them this week.
Welling Park Reserves are another improved side, and sit in fourth. A 6-3 win against Latter-Day Saints, courtesy of doubles by Steve Hudson and Tunde Mebude; was followed by a hard-fought 2-1 win against Old Roan Reserves; before a penalty shoot-out win against Wickham Park Reserves, following a 4-4 draw.
Latter-Day Saints have also improved markedly this season. They bounced back from losing to Welling Park Reserves on 22nd with a thrilling 9-4 win against Wickham Park Reserves (Jeremy Owusu-Ansah with a hat-trick and Jadon Samuel Roye with a brace) and a very impressive 5-2 win against 1st Division Lewisham Lions in the Queen Mary Cup this week.
In 6th are new-boys, South East Athletic 'A', having won their first game in the competition, 3-1 against Dulwich Village Reserves. Ex-Junior Reds boss, Pat O'Connor, will be delighted with his side's start, helped by a brace from left-back, Manny Kehinde.
Slade Green Knights have had a tough run of fixtures, losing to top sides, AWS and Teviot Rangers.
Wickham Park Reserves have had a mixed start to life in the BASLFL, and have had a tough run with those losses to AWS, Latter-Day Saints and Welling Park Reserves, but sit comfortably in mid-table.
Charlton Athletic Deaf are next up and drew 3-3 with Dulwich Village Reserves, thanks to a hat-trick from Dayo Bamidele, before this week's loss to Seven Acre Sports. On 29th September, they won well in the English Deaf League, 6-1 against Birmingham.
Dulwich Village Reserves followed that draw with Charlton Deaf with no match last week and the loss to South East this week. Their young side will be looking to build on some promising performances and turn them into points.
Old Roan Reserves are without a point, having lost heavily to Teviot on the 22nd September, they were unlucky to go down 1-2 to Welling Park Reserves last week.
Bosco Falcons are also without a point, having lost 10-2 to Seven Acre, they failed to get a team out on the 29th before losing to Welling Town 'A' in the Elizabeth Jaques this week. They will be hoping to turn their season around in the coming weeks.

New Season Up and Running

Round-up of the first two weeks of the league season

The season has begun and the goals have been flying in all over the place.

JOHN COOPER PREMIER DIVISION
In the Premier Division, the early pace-setters are Greenwich Borough, with two wins out of two. They opened up with a thrilling goal-fest against Kingsdale, coming back from 2-1 down at half-time to win the game 4-2. They converted two penalties, whilst their opponents were left to rue missing one of their own at 2-1 up. They followed that up with another tight win, 2-1 away to FC Greenwich.
Eltham Town won their only league game to date, 2-0, against Eden Park Rangers, with Wickham Park winning their first league game 4-3, against Meridian. In a cracking contest, Wickham went 2-0 up, before going 3-2 behind. Reggie Savage was the match-winner, coming off the bench to score in with 20 minutes left. Meridian recovered from their opening day defeat to win against Kingsdale. Kingsdale again led at half-time, but lost 3-2. Frazier and FC Greenwich drew their opening game 3-3, so both have a point.

JIM HAMPSON FIRST DIVISION
Old Colfeians and River Plate are the early leaders in the second tier, with a maximum six points. Old Colfeians have benefited from taking on some Old Colfeians Green players and look in ominous form. They won 6-0 on the opening day, against new boys Erith and Belvedere. They followed that with a 7-3 thrashing of Old Roan. Matt Maynard has five goals already, while last season's 2nd division top-scorer Ibrahim Aldouri off the mark with two of his own.
River Plate have a host of new players, but have gelled brilliantly so far, with an opening-day 3-1 win over Old Roan consolidated with a 1-0 win over Farnborough OBG 3rds. Farnborough had won handsomely themselves on the opening day - 4-0 against Lewisham Lions - with Gary Smith scoring a hat-trick.
Another new team, Cray Wanderers, won their only game so far, 4-2, against Lewisham Athletic, whilst Eltham Town Reserves came from 1-0 down to beat Beckenham 3-1, James Smith with a brace.

SECOND DIVISION
This division promised to be the most tightly contested of the league and has proved as much in the first two weeks. Welling Town 'A' lead the way, after an opening-day 3-3 draw away to Eden Park was followed up with a fine 5-1 win against Bromleians 3rds in week two. If they can come to terms with the slope at Crofton, they have a chance to make it a real fortress. Patrick Ward is looking a striker of promise, with three in his first two.
Farnborough Old Boys Guild 4ths were unfortunate to go down a division, due to the promotion of another Farnborough team, rather than their performances last season. They also have four points after two games. They drew their opening game 1-1 away to Eltham Eagles, then beat New Russellers 3-2 in a really tight contest.
Ground Hoppers are the third team on four points, having drawn 2-2 against old rivals, Russellers, before narrowly beating Eden Park 1-0. They are keen to improve on their first showing in the Bromley and South London Football League and have started well, following on from their impressive displays in pre-season.
Crofton started really promisingly, 3-0 against South Dulwich, but then suffered a 2-1 loss to Bosco Football Academy Falcons (KSG Falcons rebranded).

THIRD DIVISION
Seven Acre Sports are leading the third division, with a 100% record. They have beaten AWS 6-4 and Welling Park Reserves 3-2 to lead the way. They will hope to continue their fine early-season form against Bosco Reserves this coming week.
Latter-Day Saints are second on four points, with a draw against Charlton Athletic Deaf followed by a high-scoring 6-2 win against Old Roan Reserves.
Teviot won their only game so far, 2-0 against Wickham Park Reserves. AWS also have three points, after recovering from their opening day loss to Seven Acre to beat a Bosco Reserves side with 8 players, 15-2. Welling Park Reserves have three points, winning 3-2 against Slade Green Knights before losing to Seven Acre. Wickham Park Reserves are another team to have won one and lost one, with their win a 1-0 triumph over Dulwich Village Reserves.

Eltham Town Reserves win the title

Eltham Town Reserves claimed the Division Three title with a 4-1 win over Seven Acre Sports. In a division with four stand-out sides (Eltham Town Reserves, Old Bromleians 3rds, AFC London and Old Roan Reserves) it has been a keenly fought battle, but Eltham Town have always stood out from the crowd - huge congratulations to them.
On 14th April, Dulwich Village Reserves beat Latter-Day Saints 3-2.
On 21st April, alongside the Eltham Town Reserves game, Old Bromleians kept themselves in second by beating Dulwich Village 5-1, Terry Whittle bagging a hat-trick. AFC London drew 2-2 with Welling Park Reserves in the day's other game.

Division Two Round-Up

Title will go down to the wire, with Farnborough in pole-position

The Division Two title will go down to the last weekend, as Farnborough trail Old Colfeians Blue by a point, with a game in hand to play.
On 14th April, Farnborough defeated KSG Falcons 7-2, with Stefan Jones and Seb Sandiford both grabbing braces.
On 21st April, Farnborough won again, this time in a tight game against Frazier, 4-3.
On 28th April, Russellers played what might be a decisive role in the title race, as they beat leaders, Old Colfeians Blue 4-2, with 3 goals coming from substitutes. In the other game, Farnborough beat Groundhoppers 9-2 to put themselves in the driving seat for the title.

Danson Sports win First Division Title

Danson Sports became champions of Division One, with a 2-0 victory at their closest rivals, Meridian Sports FC. Congratulations to Danson Sports, who have been in excellent form all season. Meridian have had a terrific first season too and will finish as gallant runners-up.

On 14th April, aside from the Danson Sports game, Farnborough OBG were awarded the game against Lewisham Athletic Reserves.

One 21st April, Kingsdale won 2-1 against Farnborough OBG.

Tudor Sports Win Premier Division Title

Tudor Sports Reserves claimed the Premier Division title with a thumping win against Eden Park Rangers. They won 7-0, with Billy Dolby netting a hat-trick. Congratulations to them, they have set the standard all season and now turn their attention to the cups, with three finals to play for.

On 14th April, West Bromley Albion beat Red Velvet Reserves 3-1 and Old Colfeians Green beat Croydon BR 2-0.

On 21st April, alongside Tudor Sports Reserves claiming the title, Ten Em Bee set out their stall for the runners-up spot with a thumping win of their own. They beat Old Colfeians Green 7-2.

On 28th April, Ten Em Bee won again, this time a narrow 2-1 victory over West Bromley Albion.

Progress in cups as the final league places take shape.

The game of the day was in the Queen Mary Cup semi-final, as Tudor Sports Reserves (top of the Premier Division) took on Frazier, of Division Two. On paper it looked like a one-sided game, but Frazier are a side full of players that had great success in the BDFL and SLA, so a good contest was on the cards. It proved to be as such, as Frazier pushed their hosts all the way. A John Leonard goal cancelled out by finishes by Danny Roots and Billy Dolby, who now has 8 goals in 6 cup matches.
In the Ron Pope Cup, there was a semi-final place up for grabs, as Ten Em Bee took on Meridian. Meridian are second in Division One and had won 10 games on the trot in 2018. They were up against Ten Em Bee, 3rd in the Premier Division and who had lost only twice all season, against Tudor and West Bromley Albion, back in September. It was sure to be a cracking game between two sides who both play excellent football. The Premier Division side prevailed, winning 2-0, goals coming from Rowan Dormer and Darrell Francis. Ten Em Bee go on to face EFC in the semi-final.
The Elizabeth Jaques had an intriguing tie, as Seven Acre took on KSG Falcons in the quarter-finals. A cracking game finished 6-5 to Seven Acre. Joey Childs of KSG can count himself particularly unlucky, as he scored four goals and still ended up on the losing side. Seven Acre go on to face Old Colfeians Blue in the semi-final.
The Vic Farrow Cup group stage continued, with Eltham Town beating Kingsdale 4-1, Dane Lutchford scoring a hat-trick.
In the President's Cup there were two matches. In group A, Russellers beat West Bromley Albion 4-0, with two goals from Daniel Strugnell. They have now won three out of three. In group B, Crofton Albion won 2-1 away to Old Roan Reserves.
Back to league action and there was a big surprise result in the Premier Division, as EFC were beaten 3-1 by Croydon BR. The results means that EFC can no longer win the league and it is now only Ten Em Bee who can mathematically deny Tudor Sports Reserves the title. In the other Premier Division game, Eden Park Rangers drew 2-2 with Red Velvet Reserves.
In Division One, leaders Danson Sports were given a walkover, as Lewisham Athletic Reserves have folded. River Plate were the other winners, 2-1 against Farnborough OBG 4ths. The result saw them rise from bottom to 4th, showing how close the whole division is below the top two sides. Meridian meet Danson Sports next week, with Danson needing just a point to secure the title. Meridian would need to beat Danson and win their final game and overturn a goal difference deficit of 11 to win it.
In Division Two, leaders, Old Colfeians Blue, beat Ground Hoppers 5-2, Matt Maynard with a hat-trick. Farnborough OBG 3rds won 2-0 against Junior Reds to keep in touch at the top of the table. Old Colfeians Blue, Frazier and Farnborough can all still win the division. Frazier still have fixtures against Old Colfeians Blue and Farnborough, so it is all to play for.
In Division Three, Old Bromleians stay second after a 4-1 win away to Welling Park Reserves, James Low with a hat-trick. AFC London beat Slade Green Knights 3-2 to move into third. In the other match, Latter Day Saints beat Highfield and Welling 5-3 to continue their upturn in fortunes. Eltham Town Reserves need 3 more points to secure the title, with Old Bromleians 3rds and AFC London both still in with a chance.

Wins for EFC and Eltham Town Reserves see them progress in the cups, as Meridian kept the Division One Title race alive

There were few games owing to it being Easter Weekend, but some important cup games.

EFC won through in the Ron Pope Cup Quarter-Finals, 4-2 against Kingsdale. Tudor Sports Reserves also came through, but not as they would have wished, as Danson were unable to field a side to face them. The semi-final draw is mouth-watering, with all sides being in the top five of the Premier Division or top two of Divison One:

Top of Division Three, this could be a hugely successful season for Eltham Town Reserves. Another exciting week of cup action sees Tudor and Frazier progress to the QMC Semi-Finals

The BASLFL Cups are really starting to take shape, with the finals only just over a month away.

In the Queen Mary Cup, the second two quarter-finals were played. Favourites, Tudor Sports Reserves cruised through, with a 4-0 away win over Crayford Arrows Red, player-manager Joe Townsend grabbing two. The other quarter-final of the day was an intriguing tie, pitching high-flying Division One side, Danson Sports against high-flying Division Two side, Frazier. It turned into a classic cup game, with the game ending in a draw, only for Frazier to grab an extra-time winner - 4-3. Referee John Bradbury described it as a thoroughly entertaining game. Congratulations to Frazier, who are the lowest placed side left in the competition. The draw for the semi-finals is now:

In the Ron Pope Cup, Ten Em Bee progressed to the quarter-finals with a 5-2 win over Eden Park Rangers. They were the beaten finalists in the BDFL Challenge Cup last season and will be hoping to go one better this season and claim a trophy. They go on to face in-form Meridian Sports in the next round.

In the Elizabeth Jaques Cup, Seven Acre Sports overcame Ground Hoppers in their second round tie, with a 2-1 win. They go on to face KSG Falcons in the quarter-finals.

In the Vic Farrow Cup, EFC and Eltham Town played out a 1-1 draw. That leaves EFC top of Group A with a win and a draw. Over in the President's Cup, Welling Park Reserves recorded a 3-1 win over Slade Green Knights in Group A. In Group D, Farnborough OBG 4ths won their first game in the competition, 3-2 away at Dulwich Village Reserves.

Back to league action and there was one game in the Premier Division. Old Colfeians Green gained a much-needed win to boost their league position, with a 4-0 away win against West Bromley Albion.
In the First Division, Meridian kept up the pressure on Danson Sports, with a 4-1 win against Crofton Albion. Ted Jeal smashed a hat-trick. They have now won 8 from 8 in all competitions in 2018.
In Division Two, Old Colfeians Blue kept their lead of 4 points, with an impressive 6-1 away win at KSG Falcons. Meanwhile, South Dulwich kept up their impressive 2018 form, with a 5-2 away win at Russellers.
Division Three saw lots of action, with Eltham Town Reserves maintained their 8 point lead at the top, with a narrow 2-1 win over Latter-Day Saints (another team who have improved markedly in 2018). In the chasing pack, AFC London beat 2nd-placed Old Roan Reserves 5-2 to keep up the pressure. Jason Hammett took his season-tally to 16 with a hat-trick. Old Bromleians remain 3rd, after a 5-2 win against Highfield and Welling, Albert Plant hitting four goals in the individual performance of the day.

Meridian remain unbeaten in 2018, as the Mini-Beast from the East disrupts fixtures yet again.

As the weather again played havoc with the fixtures, there were only three matches that beat the weather.

Meridian remain the form side in the BSLFL, with a 6-0 win over Croydon BR in the Vic Farrow Cup.

In Division Three, meanwhile, AFC London won again, 8-4, against Old Bromleians 3rds. That keeps them in touch with the promotion places. It looks like a four-horse race for the top. Eltham Town Reserves stay on top, with a whopping 10-1 win against Slade Green Knights. Danny Whitehead and Danny Meah both claimed hat-tricks, as free-scoring Eltham Town Reserves racked up their 78th goal in 19 games, a record only bettered by Tudor Sports Reserves 88 in 22 games.

With all other games off, it looks like the season will be going into May for all our clubs.

Another win for Tudor as other divisions start to take shape

With the weather finally showing signs of improvement, there was a near-full set of fixtures.

Firstly in the Premier Division, Tudor Sports won again, 3-0 away to Red Velvet Reserves. It will take an extraordinary turn of events to stop them claiming the title now. In the other match, Croydon BR won their first league game of the season, 6-2 against fellow strugglers, West Bromley Albion. That result meant that every side in the BSLFL has now recorded at least one league win.

In Division 1 Danson Sports moved closer to the title, with a 6-1 win over Crayford Arrows Red. Unusually, our goals were scored by substitutes, including a brace for Reece Bridge.

In Division Two the top-two met and Old Colfeians Green came out on top to take a step towards the title. They beat Frazier 4-1, with a tight first half ending 2-1, before they stretched away in the second. Ibrahim Aldouri scored another two goals to add to his personal tally. In the other game, Junior Reds overcame KSG Falcons 4-3, Reginald Oliver scoring twice.

Division Three has been hugely competitive all season and the title will go down to the wire. In the only game today, Highfield and Welling defeated Dulwich Village 3-1.

Moving onto the cups, the first round Elizabeth Jaques game between GroundHoppers and Welling Park Reserves was finally replayed. GroundHoppers came out on top in a hugely entertaining game, 8-5. Welling Park's Jonathon Marks and Jeffrey Adekunle both scored two in vain. For Ground Hoppers, Ben McConnville scored twice, while Robert Wickenden scored a hat-trick to secure their place in round 2. In the quarter-finals, Old Roan were edged out by Old Bromleians in a tight match that finished 3-2 to the visitors.

In the Queen Mary Cup, the first quarter-finals were played, with Eltham Town progressing, after a tight 2-1 win over River Plate from Division 1, Sam Hayes with both goals. They will met the in-form Meridian, who crushed Kingsdale 5-1 in a battle between two high-performing Division 1 sides.

Over in the President's Cup, there were wins for Eltham Town Reserves, 2-0, against South Dulwich; Russellers, 6-1 against Slade Green Knights (two goals apiece for Kane Cameron and Daniel Strugnell); and AFC London, 6-3 against Latter-Day Saints (Jason Hammett smashing 4).

All Eyes on Meridian as they beat Crayford to progress in the Ron Pope Cup

With the snow calling off games up and down the country, it was a terrific effort from Tony Provan and his team at Meridian Sports, who managed to put on their Ron Pope Cup game against Crayford Arrows Red. Crayford themselves had produced an amazing gesture in allowing homeless people to shelter in their clubhouse.

Two truly outstanding clubs produced an excellent cup tie. The match was finally won by Meridian, 3-2, with the goals coming from Cam Bennett, Alex Arif and Ted Jeal. They progress to the quarter-finals, where they will play Eden Park Rangers or Ten Em Bee. Alive also in the Queen Mary Cup, it could prove to be a hugely successful season for the newly formed Meridian Sports FC.

A Saturday full of goals in the Queen Mary and Presidents Cups

The rain had abated but the weather was cold and windy, with pitches cut up by the wet weather in January and February - not an ideal day for football. However, it was leveller for some underdogs and the cups saw a number of upsets.
Firstly, here is the best of the league action. There were no Premier Division games, but two games on in Division One. Crofton Albion travelled to Kingsdale and managed a 3-2 win, Kingsdale not helping themselves with a sending off. In the other game, Crayford Arrows Red beat River Plate 4-1. In Division Two, in-form South Dulwich fought out a 3-3 draw with Farnborough 3rds, Sven Sabas getting on the scoresheet to get into double-figures for the season. In Division 3, Bromleians 3rds (in 3rd) beat AFC London (4th) in a 3-2, Ian Allerton coming off the bench to score twice. In the other game, Highfield and Welling won an exciting match 5-4 against Slade Green Knights, with Adam Hatch scoring a hat-trick.
The Queen Mary Cup is taking shape, with a number of matches taking place. In Round 3, Eltham Town defeated Rutland Rangers 7-2, Joe MacNamara with a brace. Second Division Frazier upset Premier Division Red Velvet, with a 5-2 away win, Felipe Velasco with a hat-trick. The Quarter-Final draw is now complete, with only 2 Premier Division sides left in:

In the Vic Farrow Cup, Group B is taking shape. A surprise 3-2 win for Meridian, away at Premier Division Centresports sees them top the group with two wins out of two. Eden Park Rangers registered their first win - 5-3 over Croydon BR, the prolific Jamie Baker with two.
In the Presidents Cup there were two games. In Group C, Latter-Day Saints upset Junior Reds to win 3-2. In Group D, Eltham Town Reserves upset Farnborough 4ths with a 4-0 win.
In outside competitions, there was a win for Danson Sports against Old Colfeians Green in the Beckenham Hospitals Cup. In the same competition, Ten Em Bee upset Kent County side FC Elmstead 5-2 and Tudor Sports Reserves beat Parkwood Rangers 2-0.

Cup Draws Taking Shape

Saturday contained a whopping 9 cup ties, and the President's Cup league tables are really beginning to take shape.

In the Premier Division, Ten Em Bee and Eltham Town took advantage of the top two playing the cup, both winning to keep in touch. 3rd placed Ten Em Bee won 5-2 against Croydon BR, whilst 4th placed Eltham Town ground out a 3-2 away win at Old Colfeians Green, Max Finch coming off the bench to score a match-winning brace.

In the First Division, Crofton Albion continued their recent fine form, pulling away from bottom club, River Plate, 4-3.

There were no league games in Division Two, so on to Division Three, where Old Bromleians beat Welling Park 2-1 in a tight affair.

On to the cups and in the Queen Mary Cup, top-of-the-table Tudor Sports Reserves faced 3rd Division Old Roan. A mismatch on paper, but Old Roan pushed their opponents all the way in a 2-0 loss. Tudor Sports Reserves march on in their quest for more silverware, two of the Dolby brothers Jason and Billy, with the goals. 6 of the 8 Quarter-Finalists are now decided, with the two remaining 3rd Round matches taking place this coming weekend.

In the Vic Farrow Trophy, the first games were played, with EFC showing their class in a 3-1 win over Crayford Arrows Red, in Group A. In Group B, 1st Division Meridian upset Premier Division Eden Park Rangers 5-1.

In the Presidents Cup there were a number of clashes: In Group A, Russellers hammered KSG Falcons 7-1. Amongst the goals, were Kane Cameron and Fabian Gibson, with two each. In Group B, high-flying Division 2 Frazier snuck a win against Division 3 Highfield and Welling 3-2, to make it two wins from two. In Group C, AFC London beat Junior Reds 4-2, while Ground Hoppers thrashed Latter-Day Saints 10-2, Ben McConnville hitting four. Finally, in Group D, Farnborough 4ths were beaten by in-form South Dulwich 1-6 and Eltham Town Reserves won 5-2 against Seven Acre Sports, with hot-shot James Smith smashing four, after coming off the bench.

Joe Farrow first to 20 goals, as competition heats up

The race for the top goalscorer in each division is heating up.

In the Premier Division , Ten Em Bee's Darrell Francis is leading the way, with EFC's Darwin Orozco having got the most in the league. Billy Dolby of Tudor Sports is the cup specialist, with 6 cup goals to go along with his 9 in the league, giving him a total of 15. In a club battle, Daniel Westerman is currently on 14 goals.

Top Two Keep Winning

Saturday's fixtures were adversely affected by the wet weather this week. Only 9 matches involving BASLFL teams survived the rain.

In the Premier Division the top two both won, but in contrasting manners. Whilst Tudor Sports swept aside Eden Park Rangers 10-1 (Danny Roots with a hat-trick, two apiece for Jason & Billy Dolby and George Stuart and one for Daniel Westerman), EFC dug in for tough 2-1 away win against one-from-bottom West Bromley Albion. They remain a point apart, but Tudor have games in hand. The other Premier Division game saw Centresports continue their good run in 2018, with a 3-0 win over Croydon BR, Tom Cowell scoring twice.

In Division One there was a surprise result, as top-of-the-table Danson Sports were beaten 3-2 at home by Kingsdale, a result which sees them rise to 4th. The only other game in the division saw the bottom two do battle, with Crofton Albion recording a 5-2 win against River Plate.

Division Two saw a cracker, with Groundhoppers and Frazier playing out a 6-6 draw, with Groundhoppers recovering from 4-2 down at half-time. A whopping 10 players got themselves on the score-sheet.

In the President's Cup, South Dulwich thumped Seven Acre Sports 8-1, Sven Sabas grabbing a hat-trick. Old Roan Reserves beat Highfield and Welling 4-1 to maintain their unbeaten run, that stretches back to 11th November.

In the Kent Junior Cup Old Colfes Blue had to abandon their game at half-time, with Farnborough also rained off. The only game that survived the weather saw Red Velvet Reserves lose an exciting game 5-4 to Borden Village Reserves of the Rochester and District League.

EFC remain top of the Premier Division after a hard-fought 3-2 win against Old Colfeians Green, although Tudor remain hot on their heels after an equally tough 2-1 win against Croydon BR. Darwin Orozco was amongst the goals again for EFC, taking his tally to 17 for the season. Daniel Westerman was the Tudor hero, bagging a hat-trick to take his tally to 13 goals in 6 games. A promising performance from Croydon BR will hopefully see them pick up a much needed first win of the season soon.

In Division One, Danson Sports stretched their lead at the top of the table with a 3-0 win over River Plate. Crayford Arrows recorded a heavy 7-0 win against Kingsdale to move up to 4th, George Lyon with a hat-trick. There were no league games in Division Two, whilst in Division Three there were two 6-1 wins. Seven Acre Sports beat Latter-Day Saints and Old Roan Reserves beat Slade Green Knights by the same score-line to keep the pressure up on Eltham Town at the top of the table. Jack Sproul scored another to take his total for the season to 17.

In the cups, Meridian made it to the Quarter-Finals of the Queen Mary, with a resounding 4-0 win over Junior Reds. The only game in the Ron Pope Cup was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. In the Elizabeth Jacques, Old Colfeians Blue made the semi-finals with a 6-2 win over Russellers. 2-2 at half-time, Old Colfeians Blue's win was helped by a hat-trick from Ibrahim Aldouri. The new Presidents Cup group stage saw West Bromley Albion edge our KSG Falcons 2-1 in Group A. Crofton Albion saw off Highfield and Welling 5-1 in Group B. In Group D, South Dulwich beat Dulwich Village Reserves 6-0.
