Cup Draws Taking Shape
Saturday contained a whopping 9 cup ties, and the President's Cup league tables are really beginning to take shape.
In the Premier Division, Ten Em Bee and Eltham Town took advantage of the top two playing the cup, both winning to keep in touch. 3rd placed Ten Em Bee won 5-2 against Croydon BR, whilst 4th placed Eltham Town ground out a 3-2 away win at Old Colfeians Green, Max Finch coming off the bench to score a match-winning brace.
In the First Division, Crofton Albion continued their recent fine form, pulling away from bottom club, River Plate, 4-3.
There were no league games in Division Two, so on to Division Three, where Old Bromleians beat Welling Park 2-1 in a tight affair.
On to the cups and in the Queen Mary Cup, top-of-the-table Tudor Sports Reserves faced 3rd Division Old Roan. A mismatch on paper, but Old Roan pushed their opponents all the way in a 2-0 loss. Tudor Sports Reserves march on in their quest for more silverware, two of the Dolby brothers Jason and Billy, with the goals. 6 of the 8 Quarter-Finalists are now decided, with the two remaining 3rd Round matches taking place this coming weekend.
In the Vic Farrow Trophy, the first games were played, with EFC showing their class in a 3-1 win over Crayford Arrows Red, in Group A. In Group B, 1st Division Meridian upset Premier Division Eden Park Rangers 5-1.
In the Presidents Cup there were a number of clashes: In Group A, Russellers hammered KSG Falcons 7-1. Amongst the goals, were Kane Cameron and Fabian Gibson, with two each. In Group B, high-flying Division 2 Frazier snuck a win against Division 3 Highfield and Welling 3-2, to make it two wins from two. In Group C, AFC London beat Junior Reds 4-2, while Ground Hoppers thrashed Latter-Day Saints 10-2, Ben McConnville hitting four. Finally, in Group D, Farnborough 4ths were beaten by in-form South Dulwich 1-6 and Eltham Town Reserves won 5-2 against Seven Acre Sports, with hot-shot James Smith smashing four, after coming off the bench.
